Discussions with Lorella Gessa, member of the Executive Committee and Vivendi’s Chief Communications Officer
The Shareholders’ Committee meeting began with a friendly chat with Lorella Gessa, member of the Executive Committee and Chief Communications Officer.
She expressed her enthusiasm at having joined Vivendi last June and outlined her roadmap, which includes continuing to work on press relations and social networks, on the Vivendi brand, on non-financial information and on innovation. In terms of internal communications, she intends to focus more than ever on talents.
She also spoke about her work with all Vivendi entities, the joint projects and actions undertaken to federate teams and the pride in belonging to the Group. She stressed the importance Vivendi attaches to its relationship with individual shareholders and to the Committee.
Lorella Gessa then spoke about Vivendi’s businesses, recalling the double-digit growth in revenues and in the adjusted operating profit in 2022. She commented on current issues, in particular the proposed combination between Lagardère and Vivendi.
She underlined the importance of this project, which will enable the Group to strengthen its international footprint in line with its strategy, and outlined the solutions proposed to the European Commission, whose response is expected in mid-June.
Finally, she answered to the Committee’s comments and questions, in particular on Vivendi’s partnership with Plastic Odyssey (an organization fighting plastic pollution in the sea), on the allocation of the proceeds from the sale of Editis, and on Vivendi’s situation in Italy.
Update on Gameloft
Pascal Sontag, Global Communication Director of the video games publisher Gameloft, took the stage and presented the development of its business and its exceptional key figures for 2022. In 2022, Gameloft’s revenues reached an all-time high of €321 million, up 21.2% on 2021 (+19.4% at constant exchange rates and scope).
He presented Gameloft’s successful strategic shift towards console-PC-mobile multi-platform games. Thanks to the success of Disney Dreamlight Valley, launched in September 2022 simultaneously on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/ S, Steam, Epic and Microsoft Store, Gameloft’s diversification away from mobile has accelerated sharply.
Pascal Sontag presented the Committee visuals of Gameloft’s latest productions and commented on the specific features of its activities and partnerships. Finally, he answered the Committee’s questions on Gameloft’s plans for external growth and on data security.
2022 fiscal year earnings
Solange Maulini, Vivendi’s Individual Shareholders Relations VP and Director of Press, gave the Committee an overview of the Group’s earnings in 2022, specifying the contribution of each business.
She reviewed Vivendi’s three strategic pillars and the ESG performance of the Group, before reminding Vivendi’s very healthy financial situation.
Update on the preparation of Vivendi’s General shareholders Meeting
Christine Pigeyre, Chief of Vivendi’s Institutional Projects and CEO of CanalOlympia, underlined the numerous things to prepare for the coming General Meeting of Shareholders on 24 April 2023, and then answered the Committee’s questions, in particular about the security of the event.
At the end of the day’s meeting, the Committee members shared a convivial lunch.
