Jody Gerson, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group, was named the industry’s most powerful female executive by the leading trade publication Billboard as part of its annual Women in Music list.
This is the second consecutive year that Billboard has named a Universal Music Group (UMG) executive at the top of this list, after Michele Anthony, Executive Vice President of UMG, was the first to achieve that honor.
And for a second straight year, UMG will have more executives named to this list than any other company. In addition, many UMG artists are also being recognized including Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, Brittany Howard and Demi Lovato.
Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of UMG, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our entire team – the best in the industry – and I am again thrilled to join Billboard in recognizing the leadership and contribution of women in every aspect of the music business. To Jody and all of our honorees, congratulations and thank you for your immense contribution to making Universal Music the home to leading artists, innovators and entrepreneurs.”
